The reign is finally over, and personally I'm glad to see it end. However, I did think he made a pretty good speech that showed he truly does bleed Razorback Red. With his poor choices made in the recent past, I think this was a good step for him to take, and a step in the right direction for the program. Anyway, your thoughts? Here's his speech in case you missed it: nwahomepage.com/media_player.php?media_id=11369

Gus Malzahan? From Springdale? The one who already left here? I highly doubt it. I've heard his named tossed around with the So. Miss HC job. He's already high profile enough to get a spot at a decent mid-major and I just don't see him coming back here. Could be wrong though, and I wouldn't be too upset if I was proven wrong...
My guess is Mike Leach from Texas Tech. Not that I really want him though. He's really into the passing game and not so much the ground game. And as for defense, forget about it.
Other names being thrown around: Lane Kiffin: HC for Oakland Raiders, NFL. I highly doubt it. He can easily make 2 or 3x in the NFL than he can here. But stranger things have happened. Chris Peterson: HC at Boise State. Nutt was from Boise State. They can keep him. Tommy Tuberville: HC at Auburn. This one would actually be nice. Only problem is his $6 million buyout :/ Butch Davis: HC North Carolina. Again, would be good IMO And as strange as it sounds, Bill Cowher was supposedly on The Hill today. (Former Pittsburgh Steelers HC) He is good friends with our new AD which is why I'm guessing he came in as an advisor, not a HC candidate.
LSU's HC Les Miles is supposedly headed to Michigan, his alma mater. This leaves the door wide open for Steve Spurrier...which is exactly why we need to hire a big name. And fast. The ole ball coach at LSU...recruiting nightmare!

A part of me really wants to see Malzahan get the HC position at So. Miss. Nutty and his old offensive coordinator ending up just down the road from eachother next year. The saga never ends..

I think Nutt did a pretty good job while he was here...despite the "controversy" that happened in the recent years. Though If I was offered a $700,000 raise, I would up and leave too.

KNWA is terrible. I wouldn't believe a word they say. They are unreliable and will report any rumor they hear as news. In case you have forgotten already, they reported Gillespie would be our new coach too and, as you can tell, he isn't here running our basketball program.
It is however looking like Tubby will be our coach. He skipped a meeting with Auburn's AD on wednesday because he was having trouble negotiating the contracts of his assistants with the AD. The story i was told from a powerful Auburn booster is that in the state of Alabama you become eligible for retirement at the age of 65 after you have worked in the state for 10 years. Tubby told the AD he would be willing to stay one more year so that his assistant would be eligible for retirement in that state when they got older. He is currently in his 9th season at auburn. One more year and his staff would be eligible for this retirement ( $35,000 a year so i'm told). The big catch is that he was only willing to the extension if the AD would lower is buyout next year from 5 mill to 1 mill. The current system has it set that his buyout is reduced by 1 mill a year for every year he stays. Auburn would then lose 4 million if another school decided to go after him next year. The AD told him no way in hell was that going to happen and Tubby skipped out on the meeting for a pre-planned hunting trip in Arkansas. It hasn't been made official that we are negotiating with him yet, because we havn't asked their AD for permission yet. Apparently we are working through his agent before we let Auburn's AD know whats up.
When the AD told Tubby that he would not reduce his buyout in the extension, Tubby decided Arkansas may be a better fit. The other big rumor is that Jerry Jones himself is paying the 6 million dollar buyout fee. Again this is all speculation and a rumor at best for now. This is not fact and KNWA shouldn't report it as such.

That's exactly what i've been reading too. KNWA is awful. They broke into programming last night to report "late breaking news" of Tubby coming here was about 99% true. Hopefully there will be at least some sort of repercussions for their actions? Or at the very least maybe they'll apologize for jumping the gun on this one.
